Do you only help people struggling with addiction?
Absolutely not. We believe that far too much focus has historically been placed on diagnosing one certain condition, like alcoholic, depressive, anxious, co-dependent, anorexic, etc. The overly simplistic approach doesn’t work, because in reality any one condition often has other contributing factors. Addicts, for example, often struggle with co-dependency, depression and anxiety. People with eating disorders often struggle with drinking or drugs. Trying to fit a person into one category, or diagnosis, doesn’t work, because even as one condition is treated, others can flare up. The idea is to get to the root of why people turned to maladaptive, distractive behaviors and examine what factors in their life are contributing to the problem and not the solution.
Do I have to know what kind of help I am seeking before working with you?
No. Oftentimes we work with clients to help them figure out why they are discontent, restless, depressed, etc. We all know that feeling of knowing something (or somethings) isn’t right, that sense that there could be more, or that we aren’t living our fullest life, but for the life of us we don’t know why. That’s where we come in. We guide you on a journey of self-discovery that examines ALL aspects of your life: past, present and future.
I’m not a drug addict or alcoholic but substances are impacting my life. Can I still work with you?
Absolutely. As we have stated above, admitting you are an alcoholic or addict doesn’t matter to us. We actually feel like these labels and the stigmas around them often prohibit people from making the necessary changes in their lives. If you believe substances are negatively impacting your life and you want to take a look at what’s really going on, we’re here to help.
I don’t believe in 12 Step Programs, is that okay?
While Danielle owes a huge part of her recovery and growth to 12 step programs, RYR does not ascribe to any one road to recovery. Everyone is unique and different paths will work for different people. We work with you to figure out what works best for you, and help you develop actionable tools that will be sustainable over time.
